Follow the procedure below
to start the DAQ on bragi:
Hardware:
- Ensure the Struck interface is
connected
- Turn on:
- Gas flow in TPC (~2 'bubbles' per second)
- 2 multi-meters connected to high voltage power
supply
- High voltage power supply with voltages turned
to zero.
- VME power supply preamps (2 toggle switches
and 3 sets of red/buelights)
- VME Crate(s) power supplies (1 toggle switch
per crate)
- Ramp up drift and GEM voltages on high voltage power
supply as described in log book. Channel A: drift,
channel B: GEM
- Power on bragi
Software:
- Login to bragi, use JPMartin account (pwd: hithere)
- Start 4 command prompts (Start->Run->cmd) and
run the following programs:
- Start a web browser windows, and goto: http://bragi:8085 (or http://bragi.physics.carleton.ca:8085)
- Hit start, and select a run number (or use the default)
To verify that everything is functioning properly,
PAW can be used to view data as it is being collected:
- Run pawNT.exe from c:\paw (or find PAW icon on Desktop)
- For "Workstation type (?=HELP) =1: ", simply press
enter.
- Connect PAW to the online histograms by typing: global_s
onln
- To view pulses: exec plotro
Trouble-Shooting:
Unexpected system terminations
or failures may cause unexpected MIDAS errors. The system
may believe that a run has already started when it has
not yet begun, or it may report program components running
that have not yet been executed (ie. feflash, analyzer,
etc). If the stop command in odbedit does not rectify the
problem, you might need to reload the last working configuration
file that is stored whenever a run begins.
Before doing this, you must clear out the corrupted
configuration by deleting the current shared memory files
for the ODB. Do this by first exiting all MIDAS applications
and then deleting c:\DAQTPC\ODB.shm. Now you can start
odbedit, where the program will rebuild a basic branch/key
structure. You can now reload the previous existing configuration
by loading the backup file. This file, last.odb is contained
in c:\DAQTPC\data and can be loaded into the ODB using
odbedit and the command: "load c:\DAQTPC\data\last.odb".
This file will rebuild the entire branch/key structure
of the ODB to the last working configuration.
feflash crashes 'segmentation fault, core dumped':
run not propperly terminated -> stop run via odb
upper VME crate not turned on
rm last.rz in some directory

odbedit:
? help
start begins a run
stop ends a run
ls displays 'directories' or 'items'
cd change into directory
paw++
64panel displays all 64 channels
init, for each event draw
