4. The New Phenomena Working Group Goals

  1. We want to compare the physics reach for the various collider options.
    1. A great deal of work already exists for the LHC and NLC. The first step is to collect this information and find out if any gaps exist.
    2. Study the search and identification reaches for more recently proposed machines such as the 60 TeV pp collider and mu+ mu- colliders.
    3. Have a new look at old topics. For example it is still not clear if new heavy leptons can be observed above background at hadron colliders. Contact interaction studies have yet to be performed.
  2. Decide on a standard means of including theorists results in detector Monte Carlos. For example, what sort of subroutines, Monte Carlos, would experimentalists find useful and easiest to impliment.
  3. Diagnostic Tests -- To study techniques of interpreting and identifying the properties of new physics once a new particle or interaction has been discovered.
