Running X Windows from a Windows System - MobaXterm

February 2014

If you want to run X applications from a remote unix system and display them on your Windows (XP,7,8) desktop,  MobaXterm will work nicely for you.

MobaXterm is public domain free software and unlike other most X-window applications for Windows available, it is easy to install and easy to use.  It's better than Putty since it allows the displaying of  X  applications (running remotely) on a local Windows desktop.

Mobaterm has a user-friendly graphical intertface with SCP/SFTP clients (for file transfer) built-in. It requires no configuration. Just install and run.
